Kylie's Titanic entrance to the Tardis!

It’s that time of the week again when we bring you another dose of celebrity lifestyle with our fantastic Mecca Bingo Celebrity Column. You’ll find your weekly fix of the latest gossip before you play bingo online bingo for a chance to win some great prizes. It’s all aboard the Tardis this week, as we look at the celebrity cameo-fest that is – Doctor Who!

First up is the news that Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue will have a major lead role in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, our sources at the BBC announced this week. The hour-long festive show is rumoured to feature Kylie as a waitress on the RMS Titanic as the episode picks up from the end of season 3 where we saw the doomed cruise liner crash through the Tardis walls.

Kylie will be joining David Tennant and the whole Doctor Who team as they begin filming the episode ‘Voyage of the Damned’ in Wales this month. The producers hope that the Xmas 2007 episode will be ‘the most ambitious and best episode yet’ and have worked the rumour mill into a frenzy by stating that Season 4 will be the most celeb cameo-filled yet!

Kylie is said to be ‘very excited’ to be a part of Doctor Who, and she joins a growing list of celebrities who have appeared in the increasingly popular sci-fi drama since its latest reincarnation 2 years ago. We can add the pop diva to an ever growing list including Barbara Windsor, Sharon Osbourne, Peter Kay and boy band McFly. This is not Kylie’s first association with the show either, during a recent tour she had ‘Cybermen’ style costumes and showed clips from a Doctor Who episode between songs. Crikey, it seems that a cameo on prime time Saturday night TV is nearly as easy to land as a great bingo prize here at Mecca.

Sticking with the Doctor and I’m sure you all remember last year’s Christmas special, which featured Catherine Tate as Tennant’s one-off companion. Well we’ll be seeing much more of Ms Tate in the next series as she will take on the role full time for all 13 episodes in 2008. The award winning British comedienne, who definitely is ‘bovvered’, will return to the show as ‘Donna’, her character from the 2006 Christmas episode ‘The Runaway Bride’.

Despite what you may have heard on the contrary, Freema Agyeman (aka Martha Jones) who played The Doctor’s companion throughout series 3 will be coming back for part of the next series. We saw Martha leave The Doctor to take care of her family but she will return in season 4 after a stint in spin-off series Torchwood.

That’s your lot for this week, but I can’t help thinking that the Tardis is a lot like Mecca Bingo – there’s more going on inside than you can possibly imagine and you can make great friends who’ll stick by you through thick and thin.
