Celebrity Stalkers

It’s our favourite time of the week again (well, our favourite time besides online bingo time), when we get to spill the goss on the latest celebrity goings on. So take five minutes out from playing our great online bingo games, and get the lowdown on you favourite and least favourite stars. This week, we delve into the often shocking world of celebrity stalkers!

This week it emerged that Girls Aloud were the victims of a fanatical ‘horror’ story, in which all five members of the successful pop band are killed off in increasingly gruesome ways. Although the author has stressed that the story is ‘strictly fictitious’ and that he thinks Girls Aloud are the ‘sexiest all-girl group’ around, the police have  been made aware of the site and its author.

A spokesperson for Girls Aloud stressed there was no immediate danger to the chart-topping popsters, and assured fans that the girls have a security team with them at all times to keep them safe.

Even more horrific is the case of Icelandic singer Bjork. In 1996 an obsessed fan mailed an acid bomb to her then home in London. Luckily for the wacky singer the package was intercepted at a post office. Understandably, Bjork soon left the UK for Spain, but suffered another ‘attack’ by a so-called fan two years later. In 1998, when someone broke into her mother’s house and left threatening notes, the singer almost considered giving up fame and fortune for good.

Over in Hollywood, a man who tried to blackmail Tom Cruise for $1m (£500,000) has been arrested. David Schmidt had demanded the huge amount after threatening to publish pictures of the actor’s marriage to Katie Holmes in Italy last year. Schmidt, well known in the celebrity world for trying to secure deals for celebrity pictures and videos, had approached Cruise’s representatives but soon found out that this was one deal the star of Jerry Maguire wasn’t willing to make.

Although she’s enjoyed a somewhat colourful life of late, chart diva Britney Spears’ life is not being made any easier by a stalker who continually calls Children’s Services in the USA to report the mother of two. The man, whose identity has not been revealed, has reportedly made numerous calls to the L.A. Department of Child and Family Services and lodged ‘bizarre’ complaints against Britney.

Although the authorities did initially make contact with Britney’s representatives, once it became obvious the calls were hoaxes any investigation was stopped. Poor old Britney can’t seem to do anything without attracting the wrong sort of attention at the moment, but rumours of a new album will hopefully see her returning to what she does best - making great pop music.

Well that’s it for this week folks, and it just goes to show, fame and fortune can bring you great happiness – but at the same time some so-called fans can take things too far!
