Reality Movie Stars

Welcome to another edition of Mecca Bingo celebrity news. Each week we bring you the latest and greatest from the world of the stars. In between playing some great bingo games online, we keep our ears to the ground for the latest movers and shakers. This week we investigate the news that millionaire talent-spotter Simon Cowell is making a movie...

It’s not, as you may have heard, a documentary on how he manages to squeeze into those trousers, but actually a movie version of ‘Pop Idol’ the reality TV show that spawned many clones (X-Factor, American Idol etc...). The film is provisionally titled ‘Star Struck’ and tells the story of 10 hopeful contestants as they battle it out to impress the judges. Rumours that Gareth Gates and Michelle McManus are to try their luck one more time are said to be wide of the mark!

Cowell wants to make a ‘musical version of Rocky’, telling the feelgood story of an underdog who follows their dream to become a famous pop star. In keeping with the show’s core theme, Cowell will select the actors and actresses from open auditions, although no details on times and venues have been released as yet.

Whether Cowell himself will be sat on the judging panel playing himself remains to be seen. The music mogul is producing the film, and we all know he’s not shy of the limelight, so he may just be ruling the roost over the next singing sensation – only this time with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood behind him.

In related pop-reality news, X-Factor winner Shayne Ward has disappointed ladies everywhere by this week announcing that he won’t marry for at least 10 years! Our Shayne hit out at other celebs who marry young, saying they just ‘want to be a young bride’. The singer has been dating Faye McKeever for four years now – but she’ll have to be even more patient if she wants to bag her man.

Staying with the X-Factor and the ‘new Lily Allen’, 20-year old ‘Foundations’ singer Kate Nash has criticised the show - comparing it to ‘junk food’.

The rising starlet, who didn’t need the help of reality television (word of mouth on popular social site My Space helped Kate on her way), has allegedly taken a swipe at people who apply for X-Factor and other reality shows, saying they are only interested in the fame, rather than making music.

Despite Nash’s criticism, the X-Factor returns to our screens later this month, so you make your own judgements on the motives of the contestants. There will surely be the usual assortment of wannabe Mariah’s, break dancing grannies and soulful Lemar wannabes, so be sure to check back for the latest X-Factor news as and when it happens here at Mecca Bingo.
