How Many Stars Does it Take to Fill the Celebrity Big Brother House?
Hello to all our bingo buddies and welcome to another action-packed edition of the Mecca Bingo Celebrity Column. Each week we scour the globe to bring you the very latest news and gossip from planet Celeb. You can find out about your favourite celebrities in between games of online bingo and our other great internet games. This week our roving reporter brings us news of yet another Celebrity Big Brother shock...
Prepare to cry into your Jade Goody tea cups or rejoice from the rooftops, for this week we have learned that Celebrity Big Brother 2008 has been cancelled.
The movies seen by many as a result of the media scrum surrounding CBB last year, in which Jade Goody, former S-Club 7 star Jo O’Mera and former Miss Great Britain and WAG Danielle Lloyd caused a storm after being accused of racist remarks and bullying towards Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.
Head of Channel 4 programmes Julian Bellamy confirmed our worst fears but announcing that there would be no new CBB, and that the channel were instead focusing on “genuinely educational and informative television.” Hmmm! The news has left us with a slightly empty feeling here at Mecca Bingo, but the good news for BB fans is that production company Endemol is in discussions with C4 to run an ‘experimental’ version of the hit show for E4 in January.
Big Brother ‘Moon edition’, ‘In the desert’ or ‘BB on Tour’, where housemates have to live on a bus travelling around the country for 13 weeks are some of our personal recommendations!
The news puts paid (ho, ho) to speculation that hotel heiress and former jailbird Paris Hilton was set to be offered £300,000 for appearing in the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother. We’re sure that Paris would probably have turned the offer down anyway – with access to her daddy’s gold cards who needs money?!?
Staying with Channel 4, who in a bid to cause yet more controversy with their reality TV shows, have announced a new programme which will see a group of self-proclaimed ‘attractive people’ compete to win a £10,000 cash jackpot.
The show, called Vanity Lair, will feature 10 contestants who get to live in a luxury house in London and each week new arrivals will try and upset the balance and win the prize money. How do they do this? By convincing the rest of the house that they are the most "attractive" in order to stay in or be kicked out.
Sounds interesting to us, and who knows, it may yet fill the void that CBB has left us with!
That’s your lot for this week, but join us again next time for the latest, juiciest celebrity gossip on the internet. In the meantime, why not get back to playing the best UK online bingo around.
