It looks like 2008 will be the year of celebrity babies as we hear in the news this week that more of our favourite stars are in the family way. It seems that even the wildest of our celebs are kicking a few bad habits and setting a baby trend.

Singer Lily Allen has announced that she and her boyfriend Ed Simons (who makes up half of the Chemical Brothers duo) are expecting their first child. The pop star still plans to release her new album early next year before the sleepless nights begin.

The girls at Mecca Bingo can’t wait to see Lily’s baby outfits; I wonder how long it will take for baby prom dresses to become the fashion? She has also announced giving up smoking because of becoming a mum, good on you Lily!

Across the pond Britney gets a break from the media with a different member of the Spears family hitting the headlines this week. Jamie Lynne, star of TV show Zoey 101 and Britney’s little sister is going to be a mum.

Jamie Lynne is just 16 and the news that she and boyfriend Casey Aldridge are having a child has met some disapproval, not least from Jamie Lynne’s dad. The couple themselves were totally shocked but are being helped out by mum Lynne Spears. One of her ‘helpful’ ideas has been a million dollar deal for a photo shoot of the baby with Jamie Lynne when he or she is born.

Scottish DJ Edith Bowman will start showing a bump soon with her first bairn expected next summer. The little one is sure to have a musical ear with both parents in the industry as a DJ and musician. Dad-to-be Tom Smith agrees that it is the best Christmas present they could have hoped for, awww!  

Well it really is the season to be pregnant with so many of our celebrities hearing the patter of tiny feet in 2008.
