Is Becks Getting Political?

This week our celebrities have been surprising us with some announcements and mysterious behaviour. It’s almost as exciting as winning a bingo jackpot! And we’ve done the detective work for you to bring the best gossip around. Firstly we hear from way Down Under that Neighbours old hand Ian Smith is quitting the popular Aussie soap.

Much loved jelly belly Harold Bishop wanted to leave entirely but has been talked around by the show’s producers into just reducing his work. So he’ll be making guest appearances every few months. And thank goodness they did, Ramsay Street wouldn’t be the same without him!

What do David Beckham and Gordon Brown have in common? We’re not quite sure either but the football hero and prime minister have recently had a secret meeting. They were apparently discussing Beckham’s football academy which Brown is keen to help with and will soon be visiting. But we wonder if our PM’s just a bit of a Becks admirer, and who could blame him?

On a lighter note (although he doesn’t think so) Tom Hanks has spoken out about people’s issues with his hair. He can’t understand why people often criticise his hairstyle believing the public have an unhealthy preoccupation with it (it’s a hard life!). We think he could get his locks seen to, but perhaps there’s more to acting than hair...

Lastly we have proof that not all stereotypes are true. ‘Stranger than Fiction’ actress Maggie Gyllenhaal isn’t going to be your typical victim in the new Batman film.

Maggie was expecting to swallow her pride and play a helpless damsel in distress. But she’s been impressed with the strength and power the director’s given her character. We can still expect her to need rescuing a fair bit though, it is Batman after all.
