Little Britain star David Walliams became something of a hero this year when he swam the English Channel in July for charity. The swim took the TV star just over ten hours and raised almost £400,000 for Comic Relief.

The biggest celebrity wedding this month was probably the marriage of footballer Ashley Cole to Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy. Popular television star Ant McPartlin also got hitched this month, to long-term girlfriend Lisa Armstrong, formally of 90’s pop band Deuce. Presenting partner Dec Donnelly was Ant’s best man. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock also tied the knot in July, in a slightly untraditional wedding. The actress and rock singer were clad in swimwear and made their vows on a yacht in the South of France.

A pairing many were surprised at this month was Eddie Murphy and Mel B. the Hollywood comedic actor and the former Spice Girl were pictured together in LA and it was soon clear that the two were dating.

A bad month for some, July saw top glamour girl Jordan suffer a miscarriage while pregnant with what would have been her third child and her second to husband, singer Peter Andre. Hollywood actor Mel Gibson disgraced himself when he was arrested for drunk driving and added insult to injury by making anti-Semitic comments to the arresting officer.
