The player selects the number of hands they wish to play between 1 and the maximum number available based on the screen size of the handset up to a maximum of 3. They then choose the stake per hand. When they are ready they select deal. If the player does not have sufficient funds they are directed to the menu section allowing them to credit more funds or to return to the game to change the number of hands and stake per hand.
The hands are dealt out, one card at a time with the first dealer card face down, the second face up and all player cards face up. Any player hands that value Blackjack are labeled. If the dealer hand has an Ace face up the player is offered an insurance bet against the dealer having Blackjack on each hand at a stake equal to half the hand stake which may be accepted or declined.
After insurance is accepted or declined the dealer checks the hidden card. If dealer has Blackjack then the card is revealed, any insurance bets are paid and the game ends with the dealer and player hands compared as normal. Insurance bets pay out at 2 to 1. If the dealer does not have blackjack the card remains hidden and play continues.
The player plays each of their hands in turn left to right. The aim is to use the available options to produce a hand that has the highest value possible, equal or less than 21. A value higher than this results in a Bust hand, which loses even if the dealer hand later also goes Bust. The available options are:
* Hit - the player hand is dealt a new card
* Stand - the player declares they have finished the hand and play moves on to the next hand.
* Double - the player may double on any hand that has not yet been played – i.e. no hits, split or stand - except for 21 or Blackjack. The hand stake is doubled (increasing the total stake also) a single card is dealt to the hand and then the hand is automatically stood. This is its final value and play moves on to the next hand.
* Split - the player may split on any hand that has not yet been played - i.e. no hits, double or stand - and both cards have the same value, e.g. two 8s, a queen and a king (as both have value of 10). The cards are split into two hands. The first hand has a card dealt to it and the player may Hit or Stand only to play the hand as normal. When this hand is stood the second hand has a card dealt to it and the player may Hit or Stand as normal. Only one split per hand is allowed. Aces may not be split. A split hand may not be Doubled. A split hand with a value ten card and an Ace has a value of 21, it is NOT a Blackjack.
If a player hand goes above a value of 21 it is Bust and loses even if the dealer hand later goes Bust. If a player hand is Blackjack or 21 it is automatically stood. When each player is Stood or Bust, play moves on to the dealer hand. The dealer may only Hit or Stand. The dealer must Hit if the dealer hand has a value of 16 or less. The dealer must Stand if the dealer hand has a value of 17 or more, including a soft 17 (where an Ace in the hand could be valued at 1 or 11 and produces the 17 or greater by being valued at 11). If the dealer hand goes above 21 it is Bust and any non-Bust player hands automatically win.
The game ends when the dealer hand is Stood or Bust. If a non-Bust player hand has a higher value than the dealer's, or if the dealer hand is Bust, then it wins, which pays out evens. If the player hand is a Blackjack it pays out at 3 to 2. If a player hand is equal in value to the dealer's then the result is a Push, and the hand stake is returned to the player.
If the dealer hand is higher than the player's or if the player hand is Bust then the hand stake is lost.
Following the Total Win being displayed to the player the player is given the option of a New game, Re-playing with the same number of hands and stake or Re-playing with the same number of hands and doubling the stake, a common strategy used by Blackjack players. If doubling the stake would go over the maximum stake value then the option is not available.
