The 46 year-old woman, who wants to remain anonymous, says she is still in shock but is looking forward to treating her family with the money. It was on Thursday, January 31 that good fortune struck, when she was playing a National Bingo Game called Afternoon Delight at the Mecca Club in Flat Street, Sheffield. She won the National Game prize of £13,760 together with the Regional prize of £1,154 after completing a full house in 39 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide. “I couldn’t believe it when they announced how much I had won and I still can’t,” she said. “Everybody has been congratulating me but I still think it hasn’t really hit me. I never thought I’d ever win the National.” The woman has been playing bingo since she was old enough at 18 and now plays about four times a week. She has a partner and two sons aged 19 and 22 and intends to take them on a celebratory holiday ‘somewhere hot.’
