Bingo gran amazes husband with £10,000 win

After years of playing bingo, a Wakefield woman finally had something to celebrate when she won more than £10,000 on a National Game called Afternoon Delight.

The 64-year-old woman, who does not want to be named, was playing with her husband at the Mecca Club in the Westgate Retail Park, Wakefield on Monday, 11 February when good fortune struck.

She won the National prize of £9,280 together with the Regional prize of £1,160 and the house prize of £35, after completing a full house in 40 numbers, the lowest call out of the 470 clubs playing nationwide.

“I was really happy when I was told how much I had won and my husband was amazed,” she said.

The woman, who has four children and four grandchildren, has been a member of the Mecca Club for ten years and plays there three times a week with her husband and other members of her family.

She intends to save some of the money and use the rest to treat her children, buy some new clothes and as spending money for her holiday this year.
