Bingo Club has two National winners with £135,000 win

The Mecca Club in Chandlers Wharf, Stockton gave two of its members a very happy start to the New Year when they each won the National Bingo Game on the same day.

It was on Saturday 29 December 2007 that Lady Luck moved into the Bridge Road Club, producing the afternoon and evening winner, no mean feat with 470 clubs competing nationwide.

The first winner, who does not want to be named, was playing the Afternoon Delight game when he won £45,000, having completed a full house in 43 numbers.

The man, who is from Cleveland, has been playing bingo for over two years and has been a member of the Mecca Club since July 2005. He plays bingo once a month.

He says he is not sure yet what he will do with the money but will probably spend some on a new car.

The second winner,  who also wants to remain anonymous, won the evening National Game prize of £90,000 in 38 numbers.

The woman who is 21 has been a club member for three years and only plays occasionally. 

“When they announced how much I had won, everyone started cheering and applauding me. I was very shocked and shaky,” she said.
