![]() £51,000 bingo shock for Glasgow great grandmother A 78-year-old pensioner from Glasgow was stunned after winning more than £51,000 playing her favourite game of bingo. The woman, who does not want to be named, says she was speechless when she was told how much she had won and is still shocked by her massive win. She was playing with two of her four children at the Mecca Forge Club in Duke Street, Glasgow on Saturday afternoon, 21 April when she struck lucky. She won the National Bingo Game prize of £50,000, plus the Regional prize of £1,499 and the house prize of £295 after completing a ‘full house’ in 42 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs playing nationwide. “I really couldn’t believe it,” she said, “Never in all my dreams did I ever think I’d win the National.” The woman, who is a widow, has been a bingo player for many years and enjoys playing three or four times a week at the Mecca Club, where she has been a member since 1995. She is sharing her winnings equally with the two children who were playing with her, and treats are in store for the rest of her family – two other children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also planning a celebratory holiday. |
