Gateshead man shaking after £20,000 bingo shock

A 42-year-old man is celebrating after winning £20,000 playing bingo!

The lucky winner, who does not want to be named, was at the Mecca Club in East Street, Gateshead last Wednesday afternoon, 30 May when good fortune struck.

He won the National Bingo Afternoon Delight Game prize of £20,000, having completed a full house in 41 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 500 clubs playing nationwide.

The man who is single and from the Gateshead area, has one child.

A regular bingo player for many years and a member of the Mecca Bingo Club since 2001, this is his first big win.

He said he was very shocked and excited when he found out he had won and couldn’t stop shaking.

Asked what he will do with the money, he said that he would be splitting it with his friend who was playing bingo with him. He would then use the rest for some home improvements and possibly a holiday.
