The 58-year-old winner, who does not want to be named, was playing bingo with her husband at the Mecca Club in All Saints Green on Friday, 30 May when good fortune struck. She won the National Bingo Game prize of £60,000 plus the Regional prize of £2,274 and the house prize of £50 after completing a full house in 42 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide. She has been a member of the club since 1992 and plays there almost every evening with her husband. Both of them were very shocked by the big win. “They carried on playing afterwards but the husband was playing the wrong book,” said operations manager Gary Vernall, “£62,000 is an amazing amount of money and they will be able to do a lot with it. They are valued customers and intend to carry on playing bingo.” Two days earlier, a man won a total of £29,857 on the National Game at the Mecca Club in Aylsham Road, Norwich in 44 calls.
