The 37-year-old winner, who does not want to be named, was at the Mecca Club in Container Way, Greenock on Saturday evening, 8 March when good fortune struck. She won the National Bingo Game prize of £63,260 plus the Regional prize of £3,000 and the house prize of £52, having completed a full house in 45 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide. The woman, a full-time mum, and her husband, who is a labourer, have three sons and two daughters, whose ages range from seven to 18. She said she plans to take all the family on the holiday of a lifetime to Disney World, Florida. “When I shouted for the house prize, I thought that was wonderful,” she said. “I never thought I was in with a chance for the National, not in 45 calls. So when they announced that I had won the lot, I just screamed. I phoned my husband on my mobile to tell him and he wouldn’t believe me at first. Then he heard all the clapping and cheering in the background and knew it was true. We had a big party when I got home.” She plays bingo once or twice a month and said her previous biggest win was £350.
