What is Slingo and How to Play Slingo?

Slingo is a cross between bingo and online slots. This online game features the best of both worlds, with a 5x5 grid containing numbers, which is set up like a bingo card. You’ll also see a reel (or reels) below the grid that spin to reveal numbers and symbols. This is the classic set-up that you find in most Slingo games.

Slingo is an easy game to play and get your head around too. It works like this:

• You usually get 10 spins in each round. Each spin reveals five numbers (and sometimes symbols too).
• If a number on the reel matches one on your card in the corresponding column, you mark it off. Just like in bingo.
• You usually win by landing lines of five numbers, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. This is called a Slingo.
• Each time you land a Slingo, you get to climb the Slingo ladder to win cash prizes or activate bonus features.
• The exact number of lines you need to trigger a win will depend on the game you’re playing.
• You can also win by marking off all the numbers on your grid to land a Full House, just like in bingo.

You’ll see symbols landing on your reels too. Not every game is the same, but they usually follow similar rules. This is what you need to know:

• A Joker is a wild symbol that can be used to mark off ANY number on one reel
• A Super Joker is a wild that can mark off any number on the WHOLE grid
• 3 or more Jokers or Super Jokers will award you an INSTANT cash prize
• A coin gives an instant cash prize
• If the devil appears, it will block any potential matches, so watch out!

How Slingo Works

You’ll be pleased to hear that playing this rip-roaring mashup game couldn’t be easier!

When you play, you start your game with a Slingo card. Then the reels spin like in slots, and you find out if they match the numbers on your ticket like in bingo. There’s a reason plenty of players call it Slingo bingo.

The aim of the game is to land as many winning lines as possible and climb the win ladder to win prizes. Plus, you’ll win a real-money prize for landing the Full House.

Slingo Features Explained

As much of the Slingo gameplay is based on slots action, it’s only right that there are some bonus features too, aside from the base game.

They can include:

• Free Spins: Just like in slots, you get to spin for free. This bonus feature makes an appearance in Slingo Cleopatra, with up to 15 Free Spins available.
• Bonus slot play: You’ll find this bonus feature in Book of Slingo. If you see three or more Book Scatter symbols land on the reels, you’re transported to a new 10 payline board game. Here you get up to 10 Free Spins to land combinations of winning symbols and boost your prize pot.
• Scatter Wins: Land a certain number of Scatter symbols on the reels and you’ll win a cash prize. You’ll see this feature in Slingo Stampede, where three or more Scatters land real-money prizes. You can win up to 1,000x your bet for up to 10 Scatters on a single spin.
• Jackpot Wins: An extra prize pot to be won on top of the regular Slingo play. You can play for a jackpot in one of our most popular Slingo titles: Slingo Rainbow Riches.

Popular Slingo Games at Mecca Bingo

There are hordes of themes at your disposal, with plenty of your favourite slots getting the Slingo treatment. At Mecca Bingo, you’ll find Red Hot Slingo, Slingo Reel King, Slingo Cleopatra and Slingo Sweet Bonanza.

Plus, you can even enjoy online games that are based on your favourite TV shows, like Slingo Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Slingo Deal or No Deal, where you can take to the stage or try and make a deal with the banker for big cash wins.

Wondering where to start? You might want to check out some of our prize wheel games that feature the Slingo Big Wheel. As you play, you’ll need three Slingos to unlock the prize wheel…the more you get, the bigger the multipliers grow!

Our collection wouldn’t be complete without Slingo Rainbow Riches, a sensational spin-off from one of our most popular slots that could lead you along the road to riches (and even a jackpot win!).

Slingo Tips & Strategy

When you play Slingo games online with us, it helps to:

• Set a bankroll and stick to it: Your bankroll is how much you want to bet with. Make sure you set a budget before you play and don’t bet more trying to chase your losses.
• Understand exactly how your chosen game plays: While all games follow a similar format, it helps to understand exactly how each plays. This includes how you win and how the bonus features work.
• Pay attention to special symbols: Look out for those Jokers and Super Jokers. If you can use them strategically, you can complete multiple winning lines. This can really help with your winnings.
• Check the RTP: The Return to Player (RTP) percentage is how often, in theory, a game will pay out over a prolonged period of plays, usually hundreds of thousands of spins.
• Understand volatility: Higher volatility games will pay out less frequently than lower volatility games, but for bigger cash prizes when they do. Lower volatility games mean more frequent wins, but lower payouts. It makes sense to play a range of games before you settle on the volatility that works for you.
• Look out for bonuses: We regularly run bonuses across our Slingo games at Mecca Bingo. Keep your eyes peeled!

How do you win with Slingo?

When you play Slingo, you win by completing as many lines of numbers as possible, whether vertical, horizontal or diagonal. With each line you complete, you move up the prize ladder and scoop up prizes and bonus features as you go.

If you complete the grid of numbers, you get a Full House which will pay out the top prize or bonus in the game. Some games will have a minimum number of lines to complete before you win any prizes, but it depends on the game you choose.

And it’s not just about crossing off the numbers on your tickets as you do in bingo. To win, you need to accumulate points. Every spin awards you a different number of points, depending on the action. Each game offers slightly different prizes, but you most often get points for clearing lines, clearing your card, landing coin symbols and spinning 3-5 Jokers or Super Jokers.

What do the symbols in Slingo mean?

You’ll usually see a range of symbols in Slingo. For most games, they include:

• Joker: A wild symbol that can be used to mark off ANY number on one reel. Landing three or more bags an instant cash prize.
• Super Joker: A wild that can mark off any number on the WHOLE grid. Landing three or more awards an instant cash prize.
• Coin: Gives an instant cash prize.
• Devil: Blocks any potential matches.
